Yesterday as I was riding the waves of surfing the net, i came upon an interesting story about my beloved Chicago Bears on Sports Mockery. The subject? What Bears fans, national pundits, podcasters, sportswriters, etc feel (in the case of Bears fans hope) is the upcoming Head Coach vacancy after the season is over. Normal names for the upcoming coach hiring carousel Ben Johnson, Bill Belichick. Mike Vrabel. and Kliff Kingsbury are mentioned a surprise candidate was highlighted.

According to the folks at Sports Mockery, the Bears are contemplating a move they haven't done in 50 years. Possibly hire the next Head Coach from inside Halas Hall. With the offense seeming to improve last week under newly promoted Offensive Coordinator Thomas Brown's direction, he may be on the list of possible interview candidates.

If true, Team President Kevin Warren should let current Head Coach Eberflus go now. No matter Sunday's outcome, come Monday, thank the coach for his hard work, dedication, blah, blah, blah and install OC Brown as the Interim Head Coach. What better way to interview a guy, than see how this year's team takes to him in that position? Will the team as a whole buy into his coaching philosophies?

I know I know. The Bears philosophy is not firing a Head Coach in season. It is a tradition since George Halas. Traditions are made to be broken. There is a first time for everything. If Warren does have the power to run the team as he sees fit, this should be his next move. This way the organization can decide if OC Brown truly is a head coaching candidate or not for after the season.
